Weddings, Days Out And More At UK Castles

without comments

Great Britain is home to some of the best medieval structures in the world. The UK has a vast array of magical castles, palaces, manors and places of interest. While a few English castles have been left in ruins because of different wars and battles some castles still remain standing to this very day. Important medieval structures are now protected by organisations like English Heritage and most are now open to the public for various events.

A large number of medieval castles, ruins and battle sites are now used for medieval re-enactments. A medieval re-enactment is when a group of medieval re-enactment fans organise a day out where they dress up in medieval clothing and pretend to joust, battle and more. Hedingham castle regularly have days out in Essex where they put on jousting and archery events for everyone to enjoy.

Many couples love the idea of getting married in a castle, which has meant that castle weddings have increased in the UK. Most of these historical structures have everything you could desire from a castle wedding. Most castles have vast grounds, which have many scenic areas that are the perfect wedding photo backdrops. The wedding ceremonies themselves are typically in impressive halls, complete with wedding flowers, candles and seating for your guests. Some people even choose to go that one step further by opting for a medieval theme complete with full costumes and musical minstrels.

As many castle weddings take place in remote locations and castles tend to have a number of additional buildings, most now offer wedding receptions and accommodation. This can make planning easy for your wedding, as all of these facilities tend to be in one package, leaving you the flexibility to plan for the other aspects of your big day.
